There is a lot of back and forth out there on cold messaging for prospects on social media and in forums. I am sure you have seen it too - people trying to figure out what to say, how to word things, whether or not to be "salesly", what kind of results they can expect, and so on.
The reason there is so much debate on the subject is that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The best way to approach cold messaging will vary depending on your goals, your target market, the type of product or service you are selling, and several other factors.
But if you keep the basic principles of personalization, providing value, and establishing trust in mind, you will be well on your way to writing effective cold messages that get results.
And one thing that is missing from most of these conversations is understanding how the law of attraction works.
The law of attraction is simple. It states that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on. If you focus on positive things, you will attract more positive things into your life.
And if you focus on negative things, you will attract more negative things into your life.
The same goes for attracting clients and customers. If you want to attract high-quality clients, you need to focus on what they want and how you can help them. Keep your cold messages focused on providing value and solving problems, and you will be well on your way to success.
And I thought I would take a minute to address the situation and see if I can offer some advice to those of you doing so because I think there are some basic principles that, if followed, can help you be successful in your efforts.
Like all things, sales is a numbers game. The more prospects you reach out to, the more responses you will get, and the more sales you will ultimately make. But that is not to say that every message you send out should be a generic form letter - far from it!
The key is to find a way to stand out from the crowd and connect with your prospect on a personal level. And that starts with your message.
When you are crafting your message, think about what you would want to see if you were on the receiving end. Would you appreciate a generic form letter that looks like it was copied and pasted a hundred times? Or would you rather receive a message that is tailored specifically to you and your needs?
The answer is obvious, and it should be the same approach you take when reaching out to your prospects.
Personalization is key. Find something in their profile that you can connect with - whether it is a shared interest, something they are passionate about, or even just a recent post they made.
And then use that as a way to start a conversation. If you can show them that you are not just another faceless salesperson trying to make a quick buck, but someone genuinely interested in what they do and how you can help them achieve their goals, you will be much more likely to get a response - and ultimately, a sale.
Also, the know, like, and trust factors are important in any relationship - especially a sales relationship. People only buy from someone they know, like, and trust because they feel comfortable with them. They know that they are not going to be taken advantage of and that they will get what they are paying for.
If you can establish those factors early on in your relationship with a prospect, you will be much more likely to close the sale. And the best way to do that is by providing value up front and through communication.
That is why referrals are so powerful. When someone you know and trust recommends a product or service, it carries a lot of weight. The same goes for providing value upfront. If you can show your prospect that you are an expert in your field and that you are here to help them, they will be much more likely to listen to what you have to say and ultimately do business with you.
By following these basic principles, you will be well on your way to writing cold messages that get results.
So, if you want to attract more clients or customers focus on that. Write down what you want, and then put your attention and energy into making it happen.
The more you focus on it, the more likely it is to come into your life.
And do not forget to have fun along the way! The more fun you are having, the more likely your prospects will be to respond positively to your message.
