"If you will commit to helping other people with this knowledge, I will keep feeding it to you." This simple phrase has changed my life forever. It was said to me by my first boss and it has stuck with me ever since. Now I focus on helping other people through life's challenges and I am rewarded by the process of true leadership.
In my opinion, leadership is not a position or a rank.
Leadership is an action and good leaders are good servants. Leaders should be focused on helping others reach their potential and not on power or personal gain.
And leadership can be a complex topic, but it comes down to one thing: being a good servant to those around you. This means that you listen to others' concerns and ideas, you help them succeed out of a genuine desire to see them thrive, and you help them grow instead of expecting everything to happen for your benefit.
Being a good leader is about more than just having power or prestige; it is about using that power for the good of those around you. It means putting the needs and well-being of others ahead of your own, and it means recognizing that you are part of a team and everyone has something to contribute.
Servant leadership is not about being the boss or having all the answers; it is about listening, supporting, and collaborating with others. It is about putting the needs of others first and creating an environment where everyone can succeed.
To be a good servant leader, you first need to develop a deep understanding of what it means to truly serve others. It is not about being the boss or telling others what to do; it is about being willing to help others succeed and supporting them in whatever way you can. This may mean providing guidance, sharing your wisdom and knowledge, or simply being there for someone when they need a listening ear.
When you approach others with a willingness to learn from them and see them as equals, you open the door for a great collaboration. This can involve working side-by-side on a project or simply asking for feedback about your performance. When you focus on being a good servant to those around you, you create an environment where everyone can thrive.
The best leaders are those who genuinely care about the people they are leading. They see themselves as facilitators rather than dictators, helping others find success in their way.
As a good leader, you put the needs of others ahead of your own and encourage everyone to reach their full potential. You help others discover the strength, skills, and talents that they bring to the table, recognizing that we are all interconnected parts of one team.
Another key component of servant leadership is the ability to recognize that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
One great example of this was when I started my journey into online marketing, I created a friendship with the developer of one of the software that I was using. He saw me struggling to get something done and chose to go above and beyond his duty to offer me some additional support. From that moment on, I realized that everyone has something to offer, and it is up to me to be open to receiving it.
If you want to be a good servant leader, start by developing a deep understanding of what it means to serve others. Then, look for ways to help others succeed and grow. And, remember that everyone has something valuable to contribute and be open to receiving help from others.
With these principles in mind, you can start making a difference in the lives of those around you and become a true leader.
Now I lead a team of my own, and my focus is on helping them reach their potential. My team knows that they can come to me with any problem or concern, and they know that I will always be there to help. They know that I am a leader who is all about lending a helping hand when someone is in need and who has a pure desire to see them improve, and inspire them with my passion and vision.
I am molding good servant-leaders for the future, and I am proud to be leading by example.
The size of our impact grows every day and would you believe it? The more I give, the more I gain. It is a powerful cycle of selflessness and generosity, one that has changed my perspective on what it means to be a good leader. My heart is now filled with the kind of love and compassion that can only come from serving others, and I would not have it any other way.
Good leaders are good servants. Good leaders are willing to put their own needs aside to help those around them succeed. Whether it is listening to concerns, offering guidance and advice, or simply being there for someone when they need it most.
Through servant leadership, you create an environment where success is possible for everyone, regardless of their background or experience. And being a servant leader is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.
So, if you are looking to make a difference in your community or organization, start being a good servant to those around you. It is the foundation of true leadership. I encourage you to give it a try. It just might change your life ad it did to mine!
