6 Reasons Why You Are A Product Of Your Environment

Drewbie Wilson • July 20, 2022

"You are a product of your environment, so make sure you surround yourself with the right people. Because these are the people who will help you achieve your goals and become the best version of yourself!"

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." This quote is often attributed to Jim Rohn, and it really could not be more true.

The people you spend the most time with have a huge influence on your life, for better or for worse.

If you want to be successful, you need to surround yourself with successful people and avoid negative influences like the plague. Find friends, mentors, and colleagues who are doing things that you want to be doing and who will support and encourage you because they want to see you succeed.

At one point in my life, I told a group of close friends about a project I was working on that I was super stoked about but they did not take it seriously and told me it would never work. I stopped talking about the project to them and found a new group of friends who were supportive and excited about my ideas. These are the people who helped me make my project a reality.

Several years later, it has become wildly successful than I had ever thought possible.

The same goes for negative influences. If you want to be happy and healthy, surround yourself with people who will support your health goals and make you feel good about yourself.

So often, we let our toxic friends and family members bring us down because we feel like we cannot do better.

And this is simply not true. So, I will be sharing with you 6 reasons why you are a product of your environment.

1. You Will Adopt Their Beliefs

The people you spend time with have a huge impact on your belief system. If you hang around negative people, chances are you will become a negative person. On the other hand, if you surround yourself with positive, optimistic people, you will start to see the world in a more positive light.

You are constantly absorbing information from your environment, whether you realize it or not.

If you want to believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals, make sure you are spending time with people who believe in you too.

2. You Will Pick Up Their Habits

Habits are contagious. If you spend time with people who have good habits, you will start to adopt those habits yourself. But if you spend time with people who have bad habits, you will also pick up those habits.

If you want to develop good habits, surround yourself with people who have those habits.

3. You Will Share Their Values

The people you spend time with will also influence your values.

Values are the things that you believe are important in life. They guide your decisions and shape your behavior.

If you want to live a certain kind of life, make sure you are spending time with people who live that kind of life. If you want to be successful, find friends, mentors, and colleagues who are already successful.

4. You Will Adopt Their Moods

Moods are also contagious. If you spend time with people who are always in a bad mood, you will start to adopt those negative moods yourself. But if you spend time with people who are positive and happy, you will also start to feel those positive emotions.

Emotions are contagious, so make sure you surround yourself with people who make you feel good. If you want to be happy, find friends who will make you laugh and help you see the bright side of life.

5. You Will Be Encouraged To Take Risks

The people you spend time with will also influence how much risk you are willing to take. If you surround yourself with people who are always playing it safe, you will start to play it safely yourself. But if you spend time with people who are taking risks and going after their dreams, you will be more likely to take risks and go after your dreams.

Risk-taking is a great way to learn and grow, so do not be afraid to surround yourself with people who are taking risks. If you want to achieve your goals, find mentors and colleagues who are already doing what you want to do.

6. You Will Achieve Your Goals

The people you spend time with have a huge impact on your ability to achieve your goals. If you want to be successful, find mentors, colleagues, and friends who are already successful. These are the people who will help you achieve your goals and reach your full potential.

If you want to be happy, find friends who will make you laugh and enjoy life. If you want to be more spiritual, find a group of like-minded people to share your journey with. If you want to be healthier, find friends who will support your healthy lifestyle choices.

So may these reasons encourage you to choose wisely the people you spend your time with! Who you spend time with shapes who you become.

You are a product of your environment, so make sure you surround yourself with the right people. Because these are the people who will help you achieve your goals and become the best version of yourself!
