Are there times in your life wherein you feel that you are less likable or lovable? Or that you are just not good enough? Maybe you think that you are not pretty enough, smart enough, or successful enough. If these thoughts plague your mind frequently, it might be time for some self-love and acceptance.


Loving yourself is not selfish. It is one of the most unselfish things you can do.


When you love yourself, you treat yourself with respect and care. You also become more inclined to take care of your physical and emotional needs. As a result, you will have more to give to the people around you. And when you love and accept yourself fully, you can give more love and acceptance to others.


So what are some things you can do to love yourself more? Here are some tips on how you can start loving yourself more:


1. Forgive yourself for your past mistakes

We all have made mistakes in the past that we are not proud of. Learn from them and move on. Forgiving yourself will help you let go of the negativity and create more space for positive thoughts and experiences.


2. Learn to accept compliments graciously

We often brush off compliments because we think the other person is just being polite. But the truth is, they probably see something in you that you don’t see in yourself. Next time someone pays you a compliment, say “thank you” and believe it.


3. Do not be too hard on yourself

Give yourself a break now and then. You are not perfect and that is perfectly okay. Relax and enjoy your life instead of always striving for perfection.


4. Give yourself a break once in a while

Make time for yourself to do things that make you happy. This can be anything from reading your favorite book to taking a long bath and everything in between. Dedicate some time each day or week just for you.


5. Take care of yourself physically and emotionally

We all have flaws and that is perfectly okay. Accepting your flaws is an important step in loving yourself. Once you accept them, you will be able to move on from them and focus on the positive aspects of your life.


11. Treat yourself with kindness and respect

The way you treat yourself sets the tone for how others will treat you. If you are not kind to yourself, others will not be either. So treat yourself with the same kindness and respect that you would want from others.


12. Be grateful for what you have

Instead of focusing on what you do not have, focus on the things you are grateful for. This could be anything from your health to your friends and family. When you are grateful for the things you have, you will start to see the good in your life.


13. Do not compare yourself to others

Comparing yourself to others is a surefire way to feel bad about yourself. Everyone is on their journey in life and you are exactly where you are supposed to be. So instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on your journey and be proud of the person you are becoming.

Instead of dwelling on the negative, focus on the positive. This could be anything from your strengths and talents to the things you are grateful for. When you focus on the positive, you will start to see the good in yourself.


15. Permit yourself to be happy

Too often, we put our happiness on hold until we reach our goals. But why not be happy now? Give yourself permission to be happy and enjoy your life because you deserve it.


Loving yourself is not always easy, but it is worth it. When you love yourself, you will be happier, healthier, more fulfilled, and more successful in life.
